Mando Group deliver a cross platform mobile solution for TalkTalk Business powered by Windows Azure

In the second keynote of their Build 2013 Conference, Microsoft have announced the general availability of Windows Azure Mobile Services. 

During the keynote, which was streamed globally to developers and IT professionals, Microsoft highlighted the TalkTalk Business mobile apps which were released recently for Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 and were developed by our team here at Mando Group.

These mobile apps form part of a wider customer self-serve solution around the TalkTalk Business MyAccount service and apps for the IOS and Android platforms will also be released in the coming weeks.

The apps allow the end users to access key billing information for their account and also uses Windows Azure to power service alert information and targeted push notifications to mobile devices.  The end result of this is that, should an issue occur that affects a service used by one of TalkTalk Business’ customers within their geographical area, a message is sent to their device.  This proactive approach means that customers no longer need to wait to find out about a service issue for themselves but that they are informed immediately and provided directly with key details such as the estimated time of resolution.

The apps, across all of the platforms, are powered using Windows Azure – more specifically Mobile Services.  The Mobile Services platform allowed us to not only store key information within the cloud, but also handled the push notification requirement for us.  Using Windows Azure to power the apps also means that we are able to scale the solution as necessary as demand for the service grows.
