Microsoft Silverlight
Posted by: Dan Prior | 06 September 2007

Yesterday Microsoft announced the release of Silverlight 1.0. If you haven't heard about Silverlight before, it is Microsoft's attempt to rival Flash as a cross-browser plug-in for doing cool stuff on the web.
For years web developers have used Adobe's Flash technology to develop highly graphical, interactive elements for websites, and to view it you would need to download Flash player. However, now there is an alternative, some web developers will start to use Silverlight, and to view their creations you will need to download the Silverlight player to run in your browser.
So the battle has commenced and only time will tell which will come out on top.
