The organisation was founded following publication of architect Lord Rogers’ vision for transforming Britain’s cities.
Mando Group launched the Academy to inspire young people in Merseyside to consider entrepreneurship as a career opportunity.
Backed by NESTA - the organization set up to act as a catalyst for UK innovation - this bespoke regional programme aims to give young people the tools to take hold of their own destinies. The ambition is to create the next generation of entrepreneurs, and in doing so, to develop a more creative, innovative UK culture.
Hotshots began with a workshop for more than 1,200 young people aged 14 – 19 and culminated with a week-long academy for 12 in the Lake District.

Matt Johnson is a member of the Entrepreneurship Commission, which looks at what has made Merseyside so successful as an innovative and vibrant nursery for business talent in the past - and how the flair and ability of the people now can be harnessed to build more and even greater businesses.
The Commission is committed to work alongside business agencies to ensure they are focused on encouraging people to believe in themselves, their ideas and their enthusiasm.
Mando Group set up a learning and research business promoting world class best practice. Inspire Nation aims to find the best examples the world has to offer, and to take small groups of leaders to them, to inspire through experience.
Mando Group also helped to form this social enterprise company to provide students with the opportunity to gain new media industry experience.
Mando Group where instrumental in the formation of Brava Design one of the countries leading Social Enterprises which was established to provide innovative design as well as industry experience for Women on design related courses.
Launched in 1999 the annual Mando Group Student Website Design Awards aimed to find the top 10 web designers in the country.
The competition attracted entries from students at over 300 colleges and universities across the UK.
In the final year of the awards, Mando Group partnered with FACT, Liverpool’s Film, Art & Creative Technology Centre and the awards and used the opportunity to run a series of master classes which gave students unprecedented access to experts and new ideas.
