Business Link Northwest

They are

  • The Government’s regional business support services agency, set up to help businesses start, manage, and grow.
  • Run by the Northwest Regional Development Agency.
  • Recognised as a region-wide success that has added £431m gross value to the local economy.

They needed….

  • An overhaul of their internal knowledge systems, focusing on consolidation of information and an easier sourcing experience for internal users.
  • An easier to use and more feature-rich external business support directory.
  • A significant increase in the number of businesses registering on the supplier directory.

We provided…

A business portal that could signpost the way to important information for all users.

How we did it…

  • Stakeholder workshops to get to the heart of BLNW’s requirements.
  • In-depth user profiling & testing.
  • Creation of a ground-breaking knowledge management system – based around Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) and with seamless integration to their existing Microsoft Dynamics customer relationship management (CRM).
  • Additional functionality such as ‘Business Link in a Box’ that allows other sites to pull information from the BLNW portal in aid of their users.

And the end result…?

  • Eloquent, accurate dissemination of information to the business community, without any need to re-create or unnecessarily duplicate content.
  • Extremely positive feedback both from within BLNW and outside of the organisation due to the streamlining of systems.
  • Marked increase in usage across the Northwest business community.
  • Large-scale take up of the ‘Business Link in a Box’ widget across the public sector.
