Now split into two distinct companies:
Tarmac Limited, which focuses on the company’s quarrying, concrete, cement, lime and National Contracting business;
and Tarmac Building Products Limited which focuses on the company’s downstream products such as precast concrete, blocks, mortar and bagged aggregates.
A 100+ year old company with a forward-thinking attitude.

They needed….

To replace their previous web presence – an amalgamation of twenty disparate microsites – with two re-structured sites that could accurately reflect the new, separate Tarmac businesses.
An improved user experience, with particular focus on navigation, search functions and targeting of information.
Better mechanisms to help them accommodate the steadily increasing online traffic volume resulting from successful marketing campaigns.

2 distinct sites which allow Tarmac Limited and Tarmac Building Products the opportunity to promote their products more successfully and which cater better for customers, even when they arrive without knowing exactly which product they’re looking for.

Gathered knowledge and information by hosting large-scale workshops with site users and members of the two new Tarmac companies.
Built the sites using the powerful Alterian CMC content-management system.
Comprehensively redeveloped the information architecture, to give better clarity around products and sectors within the business.
Made search and navigation much simpler and less assumptive.

And the end result…?

Major improvements for users, with greater focus on the needs of customers and stakeholders as a whole.
