Mando Group team up with charity, CALM

Today Mando Group teamed up with the charity, CALM to help win the World Record for number of t-shirts to be worn at one time.

Around 3 young men in Britain kill themselves each day. CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) is all about helping these young men to fight against this misery.

The reason behind the challenge is to raise money so they can launch their new, unique webchat and texting support services. The CALM website already offers articles and information to people who need help and there is also a helpline which allows callers to talk to professionals anonymously and in confidence. But they are hoping the launch of these new services will encourage more men out there to seek support when they need it.

CALM are getting businesses like us involved to help with the World Record Challenge. Each company donates £100 and in return get their company logo printed onto one of the world record setting t-shirts. We will also receive a t-shirt to put up in our office.

Over the next few weeks, the piling on of the t-shirts will be captured on film and will be viewable online; the businesses that have already signed up have got their logos showing on the website below:

http://www.thecalmzone.net/500/100/

You don’t have to be a business to sign up so if you fancy entering a t-shirt with your face on it to help this worth while cause, register today.

Phil website scores hat-trick

Last night the award winning website developed by Mando Group for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic won yet another award, at the ‘Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2008’, held at Liverpool’s Saint Georges Hall.

The Philharmonic site has been awarded the Tourism Website of the Year. The website was one of three finalists selected from over 100 previous regional winners.

The site has already won two tourism awards; firstly from The Mersey Partnership and secondly at England’s Northwest Tourism Awards. So to win a third is a fantastic result both for the Philharmonic and for Mando Group.

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic required a website with a clear focus on helping users find out what’s on and to book tickets online easily. The website has been developed to deliver a rewarding user experience with interactive features that allow users to watch video footage and listen or download excerpts from particular artists. The site also sells CD's and memberships online and can accept online donations. Mando Group undertook significant user research and worked closely with the Philharmonic to develop a website solution that would meet all these requirements.

A testimonial from the Philharmonic’s Executive Director of Marketing & Communications, Millicent Jones can be viewed in the videos on our homepage.

Since Mando Group developed the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic website back in October 2006 (www.liverpoolphil.com) it has been awarded the Tourism website of the Year twice.

Now the site is in the running for third tourism award. The website has been shortlisted for the 'Tourism Website of the Year' at the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2008. The Phil website is one of three finalists selected from over 100 previous regional winners.

The focus of the website is to make it more user friendly for its customers to find out information about shows and view audio and video content; it now allows customers to view audio and video content as well as them being able to book tickets online. The site is attracting over 60,000 web sessions per month and on-line tickets sales have now reach over 35%.

We're keeping our fingers crossed and will find out on the 23rd April at the awards dinner held at Liverpool’s St George’s Hall.

If you want to find out more about this project, why not watch the Liverpool Philharmonic Video Testimonial on our homepage.

I have recently returned from spending 2 weeks skiing in Verbier, Switzerland. I would normally come back from a skiing holiday saying the highlight was either the skiing or more likely the après ski; however this time my talking point of the holiday is somewhat different.

I am over the moon to announce that I got engaged to my boyfriend of 6 years. Before anyone asks, was it a leap year proposal? No it wasn’t!!! Christian (our in-house video production consultant) proposed to me at the top of the slopes, and I said “Yes”. The rest of the week was spent celebrating with both our families and friends along with one or two glasses of bubbly!

It was a wonderful surprise and most definitely made it the best holiday I have ever been on.

Working at Mando

Starting a new job is often very nerve-racking. I am now into my fifth week at Mando Group and so far all is great. I took over the role of office manager / PA to directors from Kate Harding (which is a hard act to follow) who has gone off to have her baby.

Before starting at Mando I spent 6 months doing a ski season in Switzerland, which I loved but now feel it is time to settle. I am really enjoying my job so far and that is mainly due to the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere that Mando provides. I feel part of the team and thanks to George's 30th birthday celebrations have just experienced my first staff fancy dress party!

For Mando Group, finding the right person for the job is very important. Having passion for what you do and being a team player are fundamental characteristics of our employees.

It's a time for expansion at Mando Group so if you think you have something to offer us and are keen to work for a successful creative company have a look at our job vacancies.

I hope all our new employees feel as happy as I do after their first month.
