I was at Microsoft's stall at FOWA, looking at some demo's when I overhead the Microsoft guys saying that they were going to do a demo on the Showcase Stage. As Microsoft had been given this spare slot last minute, it wasn't advertised. I found myself the only audience member with Martin Parry (Microsoft's UK Technical Evangelist) giving the demo. The demo was to include Silverlight and Visual Studio 2008, so I called Sam Birch as he has an interest in Silverlight too.

As there was only Sam and myself there, Martin asked us what we wanted to see - we replied Silverlight and LINQ (.NET's 3.5 data access technologies). He proceeded to show us some basic, but informative demo's of Silverlight's graphical functionality and integration with C# and LINQ. He also showed us a very impressive demo of Silverlight and XNA integration showing realistic physics in a Silverlight app.

All in all, I was impressed with what I saw and am keen to look into the technologies further. Many thanks to Martin Parry for our personal introduction to Silverlight and the free copy of the Expression Web software.
