Mando Group Foundation

Mando Group Foundation

In 2009 we created our charitable foundation and we have made a commitment to donate 10% of our net profit to charitable causes.

Mando Group are passionate about reaching out and helping those less fortunate than ourselves, our foundation is our way of getting involved in helping others. Our vision is to see local community and international causes transformed through the Mando Group Foundation.
The two areas in which we feel we can make a difference:

  • To enhance the education and employability of  young people in Merseyside through sharing what we know best – our digital skills
  • To do our bit to help those in developing countries  in whatever  way we can

We are working in partnership with the Community Foundation for Merseyside who help to manage our funds. Our current focus is with North Liverpool Academy and we are working with them to create a digital academy to reach those interested in pursuing a career in the digital industry.

Since the launch of the foundation in 2009 we have all been busy doing our bit and adding to the donation pot.

In December 2009 Ken Robinson launched the Mando Group £100 challenge. In an effort to get the entire company involved in the foundation, all employees were presented with £100 and challenged to experiment with their creativity and entrepreneurial skills in order to increase the total funds of the Mando Group Foundation.

People had many different ideas of how to increase their £100′s; some held clothes swapping events, others created recipe books, a raffle with an ipad prize, and 3 crazy individuals cycled/ran across England.

At the time of the challenge tragedy hit Haiti and we decided to donate all the money raised by staff to Haiti appeal through www.dec.org.uk

In total well over £4000 was raised. The winners of the challenge were the creators of the recipe book, Amalie and Christian and in close second was Ian’s Music album.

Due to our innovative way of engaging our staff through the £100 challenge we were thrilled to be shortlisted as a finalist for the corporate Philanthropy Award at the Spirit of Merseyside Awards. The award aims to recognise companies that stake a strategic view to their charitable work and are making an impact in the community as well as being innovative in their approach. We were up against strong competition and lost out to Hill Dickinson LLP.

We like to help out in every way we can, and using our creative skills is one great way to show our support for both our clients and colleagues fundraising challenges.

One for the men among us, in November along with the millions of others around the world some of the guys in took part in the Movember challenge. I’m glad to say none of our guys decide to keep their Movember facial hair!

More recently we joined the rest of the world and had a bit of fun for Comic Relief.

We will keep you updated on our progress with the projects we are involved with and any other challenges we are taking part in.

The foundation adopt a charity

One of our senior designers, Joanne Finch, has taken on the mighty challenge of running the Liverpool marathon this October. She is running to raise money for the Countess of Chester appeal, Relative Comfort, who are collecting funds so they can create a “home from home” environment for the relatives of patients in the critical care unit.

Over the coming months, the Mando Group Foundation is going to support Joanne with her mammoth challenge and we’ve adopted her charity for the remainder of 2011. To launch our adoption of the charity we are holding Mando Group’s very own Wii-mbledon, a tennish championship with a difference. Our staff have been battling it out on the Wii to become the Nadal or Williams of Mando Group.

On the 29th June our 4 finalists will be donning their tennis whites and stepping up to the challenge to determine the Mando Wii-mbledon Champion of 2011.

Motor Mayhem Charity Event

On the 10th November we are hosting a Motor Mayhem Scalextric event at Leaf Cafe on Bold Street, Liverpool.

For a donation of £250 you will receive guest entry for 2 people, and a blank Scalextric car chassis to design and decorate as you wish, which you’ll then race against other participants on the evening.

Additional tickets for the event can also be purchased for £20 if you don’t fancy your chances at racing a car or if you want to support your racing team.

The evening promises to be lots of fun with a fantastic live band, food and drink and great prizes.

All money raised with be donated to our adopted charity, Relative Comfort.

If you are interested in racing a car or buying tickets for the event, or if you just want to find out more please contact Amalie
